With great powers come great responsibilities, but sometimes, they may be more than what these characters bargain for. There are so many main characters with mind-blowing powers that can destroy the most powerful villain, thus allowing them to save their world.

In order to reach their full potential, they have to undergo brutal and necessary training, and most times, it is more than what their human body can handle, therefore leading to complications. However, their will is much stronger, and even though their power can and does destroy their body, they never back down or give up; instead, they find a way to accustom their body to it.

7 Gray Fullbuster (Iced Shell)

As an Ice Mage, Gray can use his ice magic abilities to attack and defend himself in a fight. He has the understanding and ability to use Iced Shell, a powerful but very costly technique. He learned this technique from his master Ur and does not plan on using it unless the situation absolutely calls for it.

This technique can immobilize his opponent by permanently turning them into a huge block of ice, but in order for it to work, Gray will have to sacrifice his body and soul to trap his opponent in this unmeltable ice. This means he would also permanently freeze with his opponent.

6 Miroku (Wind Tunnel)

A generational curse turned into a powerful weapon. Naraku cursed Miroku’s grandfather and all the males from him with the wind tunnel, a hole that would eventually grow to suck and tear apart its wielder.

The wind tunnel has killed his grandfather and his father, and it is now Miroku’s turn, but luckily for him, he’s been able to control this curse and even use it as a weapon against his opponents. But as time progresses, the tunnel gets bigger, and Miroku loses control each time it does, telling him that he will inevitably suffer the same fate as his father and grandfather.

5 Izuku Midoriya (One For All)

When Midoriya first appeared, he was a quirkless and skinny kid, but all that became history when he met All Might and became the next recipient of the powerful One for All quirk. From that moment on, he went through extensive training to become a suitable vessel for his new quirk, and he went from being skinny to having muscles.

Due to the intensity of his new quirk, Midoriya has broken various bones in his body, like his fingers and limbs, and he is most likely to break some more in the future, but this has not stopped him as he still powers through even with his broken bones. As My Hero Academia progresses, his capacity increases, and now he can use the One for All quirk at 45% without breaking his bones. Any more than that, and he risks permanent damage to his body.

4 Goku (Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken)

Goku of the Dragon Ball series creates this power in the hopes that one day, it will be able to defeat Beerus. Goku is known for his Super Saiyan Blue transformation, and now, in this form, he activates Kaio-ken to have the Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken.

This combo multiplies Goku’s physical abilities, giving him an incredible amount of energy, speed, and strength, but he is very careful when it comes to this technique and can only use it sparingly because of the strain it has on his body. The strain can damage his body or, even worse, kill him.

3 Hiei (Dragon Of The Darkness Flame)

Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho is known for mastering the powerful dragon of the darkness flame technique. A technique that, if not properly controlled, can utterly destroy and kill its user. His first attempt at using this power was during the Dark Tournament, and it did not go as planned as he was unable to control the dragon’s flames.

As a result, it brutally burns his right arm, leaving him in so much pain, but over time, he learns how to control and use this technique and becomes the only demon to successfully master it. Even at that, he still suffers repercussions for using the power as he goes into hibernation afterward, and there is a high chance it could weaken his lifespan.

2 Genos (Self Destruction)

Genos is an ambitious cyborg hoping to get stronger and more powerful than he already is. He encounters Saitama and witnesses his incredible one-punch move. Determined to learn at his feet to become stronger, Genos becomes a student under Saitama, and he grows to be very protective of him.

In the One Punch Man series, Genos yields amazing powers and is known for his impressive reflex moves, incineration cannon arms, and much more, but he bears one very dangerous power: self-destruct. As a strong believer in justice, Genos will do everything within his means to defeat villains and ensure justice prevails, and that includes killing himself. This self-destruct ability causes him to overheat his core, destroying himself and everyone within a five-kilometer radius.

1 Rukia (Hakka No Togame)

Fans get to see Rukia’s long-anticipated bankai manifest for the first time in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. Rukia, at the climax of her battle against Äs Nödt, uses her bankai: Hakka no Togame, which translates to White Haze Punishment, which gives Rukia the power to freeze anything or anyone she touches.

This ability is so powerful that even Rukia, just by pointing her ice sword toward her opponent, releases a surge of cold, causing anything in that path to freeze immediately. But if Rukia is not careful, her bankai can freeze her along with her opponent and her friends.
