A No Man’s Sky player builds an impressive base inside a naturally formed cave. There are many points of interest around the No Man’s Sky universe that players can call home, and this fan decided to include underground elements in their base.

While there are only slight similarities, No Man’s Sky has seen an increase in player numbers since the release of Starfield. As Hello Games has improved on No Man’s Sky through regular updates, it has come a long way since its launch. With an influx of players, some are learning the No Man’s Sky basics, while others are returning with many fundamentals already in mind. This No Man’s Sky player decided to use the game’s base-building options to create a natural dwelling in a cave.

Reddit user Tr3ntos recently shared a clip highlighting their No Man’s Sky cave base. The cave base is on a frozen No Man’s Sky planet that is dotted with vegetation. The video begins with Tr3ntos taking off in their spaceship and showing some of the nearby landmarks. The points of interest that Tr3ntos passes include a No Man’s Sky monolith, trading post, transmission tower, and some shelters. The No Man’s Sky player then approaches a base icon called Katla Cave and leaves their spaceship on a landing pad next to the mouth of a cave. The No Man’s Sky cave dwelling is naturally illuminated by the planets’ fungus and barely uses light fixtures. With the sparing use of staircases from the No Man’s Sky build menu, Tr3ntos has made their cave base easier to get around.

There are six flights of stairs through the entrance to Katla Cave which branch in different directions. Tr3ntos has added a floor with a desk near the top of the main stairs and some dome-shaped buildings that are connected can be spotted deeper in the cave. The player ascends a staircase in this central room to get to a viewing platform that uses another cave mouth as a window, with two couches and a table placed nearby. From this natural window, the player can see their No Man’s Sky spaceship and one of the planet’s mountain ranges. Around the corner and up more stairs from here are a portal and important base requirements like the construction terminal.

While the glowing No Man’s Sky plants help Tr3ntos see around their base, the vegetation also resembles the starry sky. Although there are No Man’s Sky bases that utilize the planetary landscape to their benefit, Tr3ntos may be among just a few players to build inside a cave network.

No Man’s Sky is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
