Apex Legends Makes Unexpected Change to One Character Not Mentioned in Patch Notes

Highlights

  • Players have discovered a secret change to Fuse in Apex Legends where he can no longer zoom in when preparing to launch grenades or Knuckle Clusters.
  • While this change may seem minor compared to nerfs to other Legends, it could still impact certain situations and be noticed by some players.
  • Despite the change, Fuse remains a popular pick and the Harbingers Collection Event introduces his own heirloom, called Razor’s Edge, which some fans consider one of the best designs in the game.

Apex Legends players have discovered a change made to Fuse not mentioned in the patch notes for the Harbingers Collection Event that removes his ability to zoom when firing grenades and Knuckle Clusters. While this latest update to the game has made publicized alterations to Legends like Horizon and Revenant, the Respawn Entertainment devs seemed to have also applied at least one secret change.

Fuse, the Bombastic Explosives Expert, was added to the roster as the new character for Season 8 of Apex Legends, offering a suite of abilities for those wanting to cause mayhem on the battlefield. Between his Motherlode, Knuckle Clusters, and Grenadier Passive, which allows him to hold extra grenades, Fuse is an agent of chaos. In addition, these abilities let the character deal damage from far distances, allowing him to interfere while remaining relatively safe. That said, players have discovered that deploying Fuse’s Tactical and grenades has become slightly more limited.

Following the release of the Harbingers Collection Event for Apex Legends, players learned that Respawn made a change to Fuse’s abilities not found in the patch notes. As highlighted by a Reddit user called ashowlyy, the Legend can no longer zoom in when preparing to launch grenades or Knuckle Clusters. This post on the Apex Legends subreddit caught the attention of many players, with some saying they were unaware of the Legend’s ability to zoom. However, many Fuse mains confirmed that the Legend had the option before this recent patch, causing some to question the reasoning behind the “silent” nerf from Respawn.

While the change is minor compared to the nerfs to Horizon and Revenant, it could make an impact in certain situations. One of the advantages of Fuse’s kit in Apex Legends is his robotic arm that allows him to launch grenades and Knuckle Clusers extremely far distances and at high velocities, so removing the zoom feature could make aiming at faraway targets more challenging. In addition, Fuse is currently in the top third of Legends based on pick rate in Season 18, meaning that this change could potentially be noticed by many.

It is worth mentioning that it is not all bad news for Fuse. Despite not listing this nerf, the patch notes included a small buff for the character that reduced the deployment time of his Knuckle Cluster ability. Furthermore, the Harbingers Collection Event highlighted Fuse by introducing his own heirloom. Called Razor’s Edge, this valuable melee cosmetic is designed to look like an electric guitar, with some fans calling it one of the best designs in the game.

Time will tell if players uncover other undisclosed changes by Respawn in the Harbingers Collection Event. Besides making changes to the Legends balance, the event added a new Apex Legends LTM called Living Shells Trios. This new mode features a new grenade called Rev Shells, meaning Fuse could prove useful due to his ability to stack more of the explosive item.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
