How to Interrupt Deadly Attacks

[ad_1]

Players of Fate/ Samurai Remnant won’t have to wait long to be introduced to the combat system, which is surprisingly deep and encourages players to read and react to their opponent’s moves. Players will need to dodge enemy combos, attack during short openings, and deal with deadly attacks.

Fate/Samurai Remnant wastes very little time before showing players how to deal with “Deadly Attacks,” powerful strikes that can deal a lot of damage if they connect. Players hoping to progress through the game will need to get the hang of interrupting Deadly Attacks quickly since they are used by most enemies in the game.

How to Interrupt Deadly Attacks

When an enemy is preparing a Deadly Attack in Fate/Samurai Remnant they will telegraph this by emitting a red glow. This will last for a second or so before they begin the attack. Iori can interrupt these Deadly Attacks by using a heavy attack on the enemy emitting the glow. Landing a strong attack on a foe while they are preparing a Deadly Attack will stun them, leaving them vulnerable to further attacks and allowing Iori and Saber to press the advantage.

Iori can also interrupt Deadly Attacks by striking the enemy with his Magecraft attacks, though this tends to be less efficient against most foes due to the rarity of magecraft gems in the early game. Saber can interrupt Deadly Attacks using their Affinity Attacks, which is another way to deal with Deadly Attacks if the enemy isn’t in range of a Heavy Attack. It’s usually better to have Iori interrupt Deadly Attacks with his heavy attacks rather than spending gems or Affinity.

How to Interrupt Deadly Attacks by Servants

When dealing with Servants and any strong enemy that has a Shell Gauge, simply landing heavy attacks won’t be enough to interrupt Deadly Attacks. In these cases, players need to use powerful attacks like Saber’s Affinity Attacks if they hope to stun the enemy and interrupt their Deadly Attack. This means, that when fighting such foes, players should try to keep enough Affinity in reserve to fuel an Affinity Attack, just in case.

The first time this becomes relevant is during the Prologue when players get to control Saber in a fight against Lancer. Lancer will sometimes attempt a Deadly Attack, and the first time they attempt this the game will automatically prompt players to use an Affinity Attack and interrupt it.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is available for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
