How to Play With Friends

[ad_1]

The quest to thwart a demon god from resurrecting is long and arduous, but lampbearers in Lords of the Fallen don’t have to brave the darkness alone. Here, players can stand, fight, and die together without the usual co-op limitations that are seemingly hard-coded into the Soulslike formula.

Playing with friends in Lords of the Fallen involves a simple and painless method that’s only limited by player availability and possibly internet connectivity. Fans of jolly cooperation have a lot to look forward to if they want to complete the game’s story together. All that’s left to do now is to figure out how to actually get into each other’s worlds.

How to Play Co-Op in Lords of the Fallen

The multiplayer options in Lords of the Fallen

As mentioned, Lords of the Fallen steers away from the Soulslike tradition of writing summon signs and popping an item. Instead, joining co-op sessions in this game is done via the menu that appears when interacting with a Vestige. To invite a friend to a co-op session:

  1. Interact with any Vestige.
  2. Select the Multiplayer option on the bottom of the menu.
  3. Select the Beckon Friend option.
  4. Pick a friend from the list that appears. They will receive an invite afterward.

Players also have the option to invite a random player by picking the Beckon lampbearer option. Those who want to join a stranger who is beckoning for help should instead choose the Accompany Lampbearer option. Players who are out for blood can select Slaughter lampbearer to invade a random world as a hostile entity.

Lords of the Fallen lets players set a password for their online sessions to limit who or how many people can join them as friends or foes. To do this, do the following:

  1. Open the menu screen (ESC/Start/Menu button).
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Multiplayer tab.
  4. Enter a password into the Session Password text box.

Once a password is set, only players who are using the same password will be able to join the session. Those who want to play with strangers again simply need to clear the Session Password box to revert their matchmaking to the default status.

Unfortunately, Lords of the Fallen only supports two-player co-op. On the bright side, co-op partners can stay in a session for as long as they like or until the host decides to sever the connection. Partners will be able to explore Axiom together as well. Just keep in mind that both players die of the host bites the dust.

Lords of the Fallen is out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
