Dreadwolf’s Best Release Window May Be Obvious

[ad_1]

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf may be one of gaming’s most anticipated fantasy RPG titles and has been in development for years. Thankfully, the game entered its alpha state not too long ago, and a release date could be on the far horizon. While there’s still a wait to be had, the perfect release window for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf may be approaching.

Since the game was originally put into the works, there have been several shifts at the company. The original version of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was known as Joplin and started development in 2015. It was axed in late 2017 by EA and BioWare, reportedly because it didn’t offer any live service potential—which is somewhat ironic since the current version of the game has reportedly dropped this altogether. Either way, the current project began development in 2018 as Project Morrison and has since evolved into the Dragon Age: Dreadwolf fans have seen glimpses of today. While the title has been a long time coming, the best release window for the franchise’s next installment would be November 2024, which is just in time for a special date for the series.

Why November 2024 Would Be a Great Release Window for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf

Dragon Age Dreadwolf Concept

If the game were to be released in November 2024, it would come out just in time for it would be just in time for the ten-year anniversary of the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition and the franchise’s overall fifteenth birthday with Dragon Age: Origins. Not only would it mark the release of a long-desired title, but it could also make the arrival of Dreadwolf as an event and a celebration of the series’ lifespan. Fans have been waiting ten years for this title either way, so it would be great to see its eventual release as a celebration of that anniversary instead of just a side product. Of course, it’s worth noting that despite the numerous trailers and updates BioWare has released for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, there is still no definitive release period.

Thankfully, there is some evidence to suggest that a late 2024 release date may be on the table. Earlier this year, a new report came out that gave fans a better idea as to when Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be released. According to known insider Jeff Grubb, the current internal release window is Summer 2024 at the absolute earliest, but he believes it could be pushed into 2025. It has been pushed from 2023, based on prior reports, so that’s not impossible. At the same time, the middle ground between Summer 2024 and 2025 is late 2024, and it would be great if it hit this window to celebrate the aforementioned anniversary.

While November is a common video game release month, it’s easy to see how it connects to this franchise especially. Dragon Age: Origins was released in November 2009 to praise from gamers and critics alike, becoming one of BioWare’s best-selling games. To this day, many consider it a masterpiece, and it put everything on the board that would be needed for its sequels in DA2 and DA: Inquisition. Dragon Age 2 fell short in many ways, but Dragon Age: Inquisition would be much better reviewed than its predecessor. Just like Origins, it was released in November (but in 2014), and it would be great to see November become the go-to release period for the franchise. On top of that, doing so would put Dragon Age: Dreadwolf‘s release close to the fan-invented and celebrated holiday of Dragon Age Day, which takes place on December 4.

Ultimately, it is hard to say if Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be released in time for the series’ fifteenth anniversary, and fans just need to wait and see what BioWare has in store. While a release date in November 2024 seems possible and would be a great celebration after a long wait, there’s still a lot that can happen between now and then.
