Stardew Valley: How to Make Beer

[ad_1]

In the initial years of their gameplay, players quickly discover that financial success is the key to the growth and development of their virtual farm in Stardew Valley. A profitable money-making venture in the game is selling Artisan Goods, such as Beer.

Beer is an alcoholic beverage that can be crafted through a simple process using a keg in Stardew Valley. Players can consume it, but it induces a “Tipsy debuff” that lasts for 30 seconds. This debuff temporarily slows the player’s walking speed by 1 point. It is completely up to the players if they wish to indulge in this delicacy or sell it for quick profits.

How to Make Beer in Stardew Valley

Making plain Beer in Stardew Valley is quite easy, as players only need access to a Keg and a supply of Wheat crops.

Crafting Kegs

Kegs are important Artisan equipment required to make Artisan beverages, such as wine, mead, or Beer. While players are rewarded with Kegs for completing the Artisan or the Brewer’s Bundles in the Pantry, they can also craft their own. Players unlock the crafting recipe for Kegs when they reach Farming Level 8. The ingredients required are:

  • 1 Copper Bar
  • 1 Iron Bar
  • 1 Oak Resin
  • 30 pieces of Wood

Growing Wheat on the Farm

Wheat is a multi-seasonal vegetable crop that can be grown in Summer and Fall. It is one of the most widely cultivated grains and is used to make Beer. To grow Wheat on the Farm, players need Wheat Seeds, which can be obtained through various sources:

  • Pierre’s General Store sells Wheat Seeds for 10 g, while JojaMart sells them for 12 g.
  • Wheat Seeds can occasionally be found at the Traveling Cart, where the price ranges from 100 to 1,000 g.
  • At the Night Market on Winter 16 and 17, players can purchase Wheat Seeds from the Magic Shop Boat for 10 g.
  • Five to twenty Wheat Seeds may be found in the treasure rooms within The Skull Cavern.
  • Wheat Seeds can also be obtained by using a Seed Maker.

Once the Wheat Seeds are planted, they yield mature Wheat crops after 4 days. To harvest the Wheat crop, players need to use a Scythe or Golden Scythe. Wheat is an ideal crop because it remains viable for two seasons and has a short growth time. However, if players want to speed up the growth stages of Wheat, they can use Fertilizers, as shown in the table below:

Fertilizer Time Saved Ready for Harvest
Normal 4 days
Speed-Gro 10% 3 days
Deluxe Speed-Gro 25% 3 days
Hyper Speed-Gro 33% 2 days

Planting Wheat Seeds at the end of Summer is an economical strategy to prevent the soil from losing its tilled and watered status when the season changes.

Brewing Beer

Once players have harvested the Wheat crops, they can process them into Beer by placing them inside Kegs. To do so, players need to hold the Wheat from their inventory and click on the Keg. This places the Wheat inside the Keg, ready to be processed. It takes 1750 minutes (about 1 to 2 in-game days) for a Keg to brew Beer.

Additionally, players can purchase Beer at the Stardrop Saloon for 400 gold. It is also available at the Ginger Island Resort for 500 gold. If a player is lucky, they may receive Beer as a gift on the Feast of the Winter Star.

Aging Beer

In Stardew Valley, all alcoholic beverages, including Beer, can be aged to enhance their quality and increase their selling price. Once brewed, Beer can be placed inside a Cask to age from normal quality to silver, gold, or iridium star qualities.

Casks are Artisan Equipment unlocked with the final Farmhouse upgrade. This upgrade costs a whopping 100,000 gold and is one of the most expensive things to buy in Stardew Valley. With this upgrade, players get access to a Cellar in the basement of their Farmhouse, which contains 33 Casks. It is also possible for players to craft more Casks. The materials required are 1 piece of Hardwood and 20 pieces of Wood.

Since it is an Artisan Good, the prices of Beer are influenced if players have chosen the Artisan Profession.

Beer Quality Time Spent Aging Sell Price Price with Artisan Profession (+40%)
Normal 200 g 280 g
Silver 7 days 250 g 350 g
Gold 14 days 300 g 420 g
Iridium 28 days 400 g 560 g

Regardless of its quality or the player’s chosen in-game Profession, selling Beer offers a quick and efficient way to generate considerable profits in Stardew Valley. In fact, most of the residents in Pelican Town like Beer, except Penny, Jas, Sebastian, Leo, and Vincent – who hate it. This makes Beer a decent gift option if players want to strengthen their Friendship with the villagers. Alternatively, players can create a Black Leather Jacket by placing a mug of Beer in the spool of the Sewing Machine with some Cloth.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
