A Baldur’s Gate 3 player created a build that gave their Monk incredible speed. Baldur’s Gate 3 has become one of this year’s most talked-about releases. And one reason Baldur’s Gate 3 has stolen the limelight is the variety of ways players can have fun.
In Larian Studios’ RPG, players choose one of 12 classes to create their character. Each class in Baldur’s Gate 3 has its peculiarities such as different backgrounds, primary skills, and proficiencies. Choosing a class in Baldur’s Gate 3 affects not only the playstyle but also the unique dialog options and actions available. The possibilities go even further, as players can choose the best Baldur’s Gate 3 subclass for their character. Once the class has been defined, adventurers need to make a build. And one Baldur’s Gate 3 player has turned their character into a kind of Sonic the Hedgehog.
In a video posted on YouTube, player Chris Reven showed a build that gives their Monk 880 feet or approximately 268.2 meters of movement speed. The Monk starts the turn with 80 feet (24.3 meters) of movement speed, reaching 100 feet (30.4 meters) by equipping a Crusher’s Ring and the Longstrider, one of Baldur’s Gate 3 Transmutation spells. The player enters turn mode and uses the Haste spell, increasing the speed to 110 feet (33.5 meters). Then they use the spell sequence Step of the Wind: Dash and Dash twice to reach 440 feet (134.11 meters). The player finishes by using Click Heels, an equipment feature available for the Speed Boot, and achieves an impressive 880 feet (268.2 meters).
In the video description, the player explains that a single round of Baldur’s Gate 3 lasts six seconds. Because of the speed of 800 feet, their Monk moves at 146.66 feet per second, the equivalent of 99.995 miles per hour. It’s important to say that these numbers don’t translate into literal speed, but rather into how fast the character travels across the Baldur’s Gate 3 map. One of the comments on the video pointed out that doing the conversion the Monk moves at 160 kilometers per hour. According to them, this figure is 40 kilometers per hour faster than the maximum speed of a cheetah, showing just how insane the build created by Chris Reven is.
The Monk is a Baldur’s Gate 3 class with a strong focus on melee combat in the vast majority of its builds. Although not one of the most popular classes in Baldur’s Gate 3, the Monk has, like its colleagues, a variety of builds for players to test the limits of this fighter.
