League of Legends: Best Junglers, Ranked

[ad_1]

The jungle role in League of Legends has seen huge tweaks over the last few seasons, including oppressive nerfs to experience gained when clearing camps, and the addition of three adorable jungle pets that provide unique utility to jungle gameplay.

Riot’s balancing team has also made continued efforts to move champions from other roles into the jungle, such as Morgana, Brand, and Zed. While some of these champion buffs have certainly succeeded in introducing several familiar faces to the jungle role, a handful has missed the mark by quite a large margin. This list covers jungle champions during League of Legends Patch 13.21.

7 Morgana, The Fallen

League of Legends Kayle and Morgana

Since League of Legends’ initial release, Morgana has made her appearance in almost every role, though has been primarily played in support for the past few seasons. However, during Season 13, Riot’s balancing team has been pushing for the fallen angel to appear more often in the jungle role. Recent efforts saw huge buffs to Morgana’s W, Tormented Shadow, damage versus monsters, increasing her clear speed.

Additionally, Morgana heals based on damage dealt to champions, large minions and medium or larger jungle monsters from her passive, Soul Siphon. Her passive in combination with her W ability gives Morgana an extremely healthy and fast clear, allowing her to appear earlier on the map, pressuring lanes with ganks and threatening the enemy jungler with invades.

6 Maokai, The Twisted Treant

League of Legends Maokai

Having good clear speeds, as well as the ability to stay healthy during his jungle-pathing, Maokai is a fantastic utility jungler with brilliant dive and gank potential. With his point-and-click root, Twisted Advance, Maokai excels at locking down a target, enabling his team to quickly eliminate them.

The Twisted Treant’s E ability, Sapling Toss, while great for clearing camps, is also the perfect scouting tool. While setting up vision for objectives such as the Elemental Dragons, Rift Herald, or Baron Nashor, Maokai can throw his saplings into river entrances to act as efficient cover, damaging any enemies trying to contest the objective.

5 Evelynn, Agony’s Embrace

League of Legends Evelynn

As the only champion in the game with a permanent camouflage, Evelynn is a terrifying assassin that forces the enemy team to change how they play. Invisible to both stealth and far-sight alteration wards, Evelynn can very easily dominate the map by stalking about undetected and swiftly eliminating solo targets.

Evelynn’s ability to take out unsuspecting targets forces the enemy to play safe, often causing opponents to sacrifice waves of creeps, or send multiple teammates to guard vulnerable champions such as squishy ADCs and mages. As if her all-in potential as an assassin and innate camouflage wasn’t enough, Evelynn is kitted out with a powerful charm in her W, Allure, which is great for singling out enemies before decimating them with her ultimate ability, Last Caress.

4 Ivern, The Green Father

League of Legends Ivern

Ivern breaks the rules of the jungle role with his unique passive that disables the ability to harm jungle camps. Instead, using his passive, Friend Of The Forest, Ivern sacrifices some HP to create a magical ring around a camp. Interacting with the ring once it’s completed, or smiting it early, frees the monsters inside, earning Ivern some gold and experience.

Friend Of The Forest gives Ivern the fastest first-buff clear, making it common practice for Ivern players to invade the enemy jungler and steal one of their buffs from beneath their nose. As a supportive jungler, Ivern has a useful, utility-based kit that slows, roots, and knocks up the enemy while shielding his allies. In team fights, Ivern focuses on locking down and peeling his allies with the help of his ultimate, Daisy.

3 Jarvan IV, The Exemplar Of Demacia

League of Legends Jarvan IV

While Jarvan IV’s official role is as a tank, The Exemplar Of Demacia can be played as both a bruiser, and an assassin, as well. Versatile and flexible in his ability to peel allies, engage onto priority targets, and disrupt the enemy team, Jarvan IV is an extremely powerful and capable champion.

After clearing a camp, Jarvan IV can easily get off a sneaky gank at level 2 before any of the enemy laners have gained enough experience to level up. Using his tried-and-true combo of E, Demacian Standard, into Q, Dragon Strike, Jarvan IV can effortlessly engage onto and knock up the opposition, securing a quick first kill, or burning the enemy’s flash summoner spell, making them more susceptible to following gank attempts.

2 Briar, The Restrained Hunger

League of Legends Briar

The most recent champion to join Summoner’s Rift, Briar is a bloodthirsty fiend with the unique passive to self-taunt onto opponents. Lacking the ability to passively regenerate Health Points, Briar’s playstyle revolves around going into a frenzy and life-stealing off opponents.

Despite receiving small buffs swiftly followed by plenty of nerfs and tweaks, Briar remains one of the best junglers in League of Legends due to her quick clear-speeds, one-versus-one potential, and the ability to cross-map gank with her ultimate ability, Certain Death. A scaling powerhouse, Briar is difficult to shut down once she gets going, often becoming an unstoppable threat in fights.

1 Graves, The Outlaw

League of Legends Graves

Graves has been the go-to-champion for many players Diamond and above for seasons due to his extremely healthy jungle clear, innate survivability, and high-damage output. As a strong skirmisher, Graves can easily contest early scuttle crabs, denying the opposing jungler gold and experience while creating an early lead.

Thanks to his quick clear and dueling potential, Graves can easily invade his opposition to steal camps and apply pressure, further increasing the gap in gold and experience between himself and the enemy jungler. The wider that gap becomes, the easier it is for Graves to invade. This pressure makes it almost impossible for the opposing team to contest objectives, often leading to an easy victory for Graves.
