The Baratie arc is among the fan favorites and certainly one of the very best in the East Blue Saga of One Piece. Doing this arc justice in One Piece Live Action was certainly a mammoth task for those working on the show, however, it can safely be said that this arc lives up to the expectations, much like the rest of the One Piece Live Action series.
As with the entirety of One Piece Live Action season 1, there were tons of Easter Eggs for the fans to spot in the Baratie arc. Of course, while some were insignificant, there are others that hold deep meaning that every fan of One Piece would appreciate.
8 Luffy Outfit Chapter 28 Colorspread
At the beginning of Baratie, Luffy is seen wearing overalls. These overalls have been taken directly from the colorspread of chapter 28.
The outfit itself suits Luffy quite well and, at the same time, including the colorspread itself just goes to show how well the showrunners did when it comes to paying attention to small details that can be fun for the fans.
7 Usopp Outfit Volume 8 Special Colorspread
It is quite clear for the fans to see that the vast majority of the outfits that the Straw Hat Pirates wear in One Piece Live Action are directly taken from either volume covers, colorspreads, or the chapters themselves.
Just like Luffy’s outfit was based on a colorspread, Usopp had his taken from one as well. In his case, the pirate outfit was taken from Volume 8’s special colorspread. This outfit gives Usopp a very traditional pirate look and, at the same time, does well to compliment his partying nature.
6 Rare Animal Island
There are some minor arcs that were, sadly, omitted from the first season of One Piece Live Action. One of them is the Rare Animal Island Arc, which is a very short arc where Luffy visits an island with rare animals and meets Gaimon.
While fans do not get to see the live-action version of this place, a portrait of it is actually hung up on the walls of Baratie. Looking closer at the portrait, fans can see all the animals on the island. Upon even closer inspection, a guy with a green afro can also be seen and this person is most certainly Gaimon himself.
5 Sabaody Archipelago
The walls of Baratie have tons of portraits on them. These are from the many places in the world that Oda carefully crafted. Unsurprisingly, these portraits are from all over the Grand Line. Fans can see many places, including Koala’s hometown, among others.
One place that stands out the most, however, is Sabaody Archipelago. Fans know the significance of this place in One Piece and it will surely come up later on in the story as well. To get a small glimpse of it early on is certainly a very nice easter egg.
4 Bluefin Tuna (Sanji Cookbook)
Upon Sanji’s introduction in One Piece Live Action, he is seen cooking Bluefin Tuna. Fans of the One Piece source material will know that Sanji actually ends up getting this fish in the Loguetown arc. This fish is believed to be incredibly tasty.
What’s even more interesting is the fact that Sanji has his own cookbook that fans can buy over the internet, and the recipe that Sanji ends up using to cook the Bluefin Tuna in Episode 5 is actually featured in the cookbook as well.
3 Galley
A pirate named Galley is introduced in One Piece Live Action episode 5. This pirate isn’t seen in the Baratie arc of the manga. However, this character isn’t entirely non-canon.
He is actually from the Romance Dawn one-shot written by Oda. The anime features him in a couple of episodes. What’s even more interesting is the fact that Galley ends up making an appearance at the end of the Whole Cake Island arc when he visits Baratie and demands food.
2 Pearl
Fans know Pearl to be a very important member of Don Krieg’s crew. In the manga, he ends up fighting against Sanji and is beaten up terribly. However, in One Piece Live Action, he does not appear on Baratie, simply because Krieg never invades the place.
However, he does make an appearance in the Grand Line when Mihawk destroys the entire pirate crew. He is seen lying on the ground right next to Don Krieg when he’s introduced.
1 Noland The Liar
One of the most intriguing additions to the Baratie arc in One Piece Live Action was the inclusion of Noland the Liar. Fans of the manga and the anime will be very well familiar with this person.
Noland the Liar was a famous sailor from the North Blue who lived nearly 400 years ago and was executed for lying. Nami was seen reciting his story to Zoro After he had passed out following his defeat to Mihawk.
