Overwatch 2 just revealed Trials of Sanctuary, a new Diablo 4-inspired game mode. This co-op PvE game mode will bring familiar faces from Sanctuary to Overwatch 2 in an exciting survival challenge.
Season 7 of Overwatch 2, titled Rise of Darkness, celebrates the spookiest season of the year in a big way. Overwatch 2 is adding tons of Halloween-themed skins to the game, including several inspired by the Diablo universe.
However, it seems these new Diablo skins for Overwatch 2 are not just for show. During the Halloween Terror holiday event, Overwatch 2 will be introducing a new game mode called Trials of Sanctuary. This Diablo-inspired event brings players to a dark version of Blizzard World, where they must face armies of zombie-like robots and other enemies in a co-op survival challenge. To prepare themselves for boss encounters like Butcher Roadhog, Azmodan Wrecking Ball, and Lilith Moira, players can collect power-ups that augment their skills with extra effects, like firing extra projectiles or creating damaging areas with their abilities.
Players can choose between the following heroes in Trials of Sanctuary, the new Overwatch 2 PvE game mode:
- Barbarian Zarya
- Cleric Lifeweaver
- Demon Hunter Sombra
- Imperious Reinhardt
- Inarius Pharah
- Night Raven Illari
Halloween Terror brings other PvE content to Overwatch 2 as well. Both Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride make their return, and players can expect a new set of challenges involved with the holiday event. By completing these challenges, Overwatch 2 players can earn Overwatch Credits, Battle Pass XP, and more spooky cosmetics for various characters.
Beyond the holiday season, Overwatch 2 Season 7: Rise of Darkness has plenty of other things to look forward to as well. The new Samoa Control map will give players a new arena to master, and the Route 66 map is getting a facelift to make the first checkpoint a little more forgiving for attackers. Were that not enough, Overwatch 2’s resident hacker Sombra is getting a rework at the season’s beginning, and Roadhog will receive one before Season 8.
BlizzCon will also be taking place during Season 7. Players can look forward to the first glimpse of Season 8 at the convention with the highly-anticipated reveal of the next Overwatch 2 tank hero. Theories abound about who the final playable character for 2023 might be, but players won’t have to wait long to find out who it is.
Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
