Mundane Missions In Otherwise Remarkable Games

[ad_1]

Over the years, there have been some fantastic video games created. With most games, the developers put their all into making the experience a great one, and put so much detail into the missions. However, even in best-selling games such as GTA 5 and Marvel’s Spider-Man, there are still missions that have been received negatively by fans, as they may be long and uneventful, despite the rest of the game being a masterpiece.

5 Marvel’s Spider-Man: Don’t Touch The Art

dont touch the art mission from Marvel's spider-man

Marvel’s Spider-Man is an absolutely phenomenal game. It set the standard for modern-day superhero games. It not only had an extremely compelling story, but the huge open-world is packed with interactions, side missions and things to climb and swing on, which really makes players feel like they are in Spider-Mans shoes. The missions themselves in the game really go well with the story, and the combat is fantastic. However, one of the few negative talking points from the game were the classic Mary-Jane missions.

It was a nice idea to be able to play as someone other than Spider-Man from time to time. However, these missions were very slow-paced, which made them get some negative attention from fans. This may have been heightened because of the fast-paced nature when playing as Spider-Man, and the freedom they have with the movements. However, this mission requires you to be stealthy, and can take some time to complete. It doesn’t really give that fulfillment that you feel with other areas of the game, and is one that fans don’t look forward to replaying if they’re going for that platinum trophy.

4 GTA 5: Scouting The Port

scouting the port mission - gta 5

This mission in GTA 5 is again, quite slow paced. It does what it says, players quite literally are ‘scouting the port’, and preparing for a future mission. Throughout, players drive slow moving vehicles and pick up crates, and then place them where they need to go. Then, nearing the end, players need to climb up a crane and take some photos to send as Trevor to Ron.

Given the nature of the Grand Theft Auto games, where players are running around freely and in intense combat most of the time, this one stands out as being quite monotonous. The vehicles move slow, the act of moving the crates can take a while to fully master, and there’s not much action happening around the scene.

3 Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End: The Malaysia Job

the malaysia job mission from uncharted 4

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, is arguably one of the best story games ever made. The story is compelling, and players get to travel through many different areas of Europe, including jungles, deserts and snowy mountains. The game is full of adventure as players search for a lost treasure, and playing as Nathan Drake allows players to climb pretty much anything, and jump from unfathomable heights that will keep players tense.

The game is absolutely action-packed, apart from one mission: The Malaysia Job. Now, this is relatively short in comparison to the other parts of the game but, especially when playing for the first time, can be confusing and quite boring.

Throughout the mission, players need to dive under the ocean, and find and lift crates so that the lost cargo can be brought up to the surface. It’s not particularly a hard task, unless players can’t locate the missing crate. But, it’s not very exciting. It’s definitely the one mission in the game that players want to rush past so that they can get back to the fun, treasure hunting stuff.

2 Red Dead Redemption 2: Country Pursuits

country pursuits mission from red dead redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most well-thought-out and detailed games of all time. From the in-depth backstories and personalities of the characters, to the complex and emotional story, to the endless open-world possibilities, it is just phenomenal. The missions are consistently action-packed and fun. However, there is one mission in the game that everyone dreads: Country Pursuits.

In this mission, Arthur and Dutch go to speak with a man about a boat, and have to go through the swampy rivers to find it at a painfully slow rate. There isn’t really a way to speed up the process, but it is abnormally slow in comparison to the other missions. It does pick up the pace ever so slightly nearing the end, where players have to shoot an alligator in order to save someone. But, overall, it is very slow, and one players just need to get out of the way.

1 Detroit Become Human: From The Dead

from the dead mission - detroit become human

Detroit Become Human is beloved by fans around the world. It has seemingly endless possibilities and endings depending on the choices players make. The gameplay is fun, but really what makes it amazing is the options players have to choose from, which players can only choose in a matter of time, which makes the experience very tense, and the sci-fi element when showing robots starting a revolution against humans is fascinating to see.

However, the mission ‘From The Dead’ stands out as a monotonous chore in comparison to the rest of the game. Players follow Markus through a junkyard, where he needs to find body parts to fit him as he is missing some things. It is raining, dark and muddy, and players have to spend quite a while hunting around for these things whilst Markus is injured, making the process even slower.
